On May 9, on the occasion of the Victory and Peace Day, the RA National Assembly Speaker Samvel Nikoyan, deputies, officials, high ranking military, clergymen, diplomats accredited in Armenia visited “Mother Armenia” Memorial Complex and laid wreaths and flowers at the tomb of the “Unknown Soldier,” honoured in silence the memory of the victims of the Great Patriotic War and Artsakh Heroic Battle.

The RA and RF state hymns were sounded, after which the military of Armenia and Russia had a parade.

In the military field kitchen deployed in the vicinity of Mother Armenia Memorial Samvel Nikoyan tasted military food with the war veterans. Having an intimate talk with the participants of the Great Patriotic War the Head of the parliament, raised a glass on the occasion of Victory and Peace congratulated them and wished all the best.

In the briefing with the journalists Mr Nikoyan noted: “May is a month of victories for the Armenian people, and today is the day of joy for everybody. There are numerous data in our history, where we had losses, from which songs of crying and lamentation were born. And this is the day, when we can sing songs of victory. On May 9, 1945 the Armenian soldiers danced victorious Kochari in Berlin, and we succeeded to move Kochari to Shushi. The Armenian sons understood that they could dance victorious Kochari and sing songs of joy. And it was also expressed during the Karbakh war.”

The NA Speaker has visited “Mother Armenia” Military Museum of the RA Ministry of Defense, where the exhibits, documents shown there tell about the participation of the Armenian people during the World War II and the Armenian sons, who became heroes of the Arsakh freedom fighting of the 80s-90s of the 20th century. The sample of the mine, which designed, produced and used during the Artsakh war by the NA Speaker Samvel Nikoyan and friends is also among the exhibits. Mr Nikoyan watched the mine with excitement, and introduced the background of its creation.

On the same day in the name of the RA legislative power a wreath and flowers were laid at the monument dedicated to the Shushi Liberation deployed in the Azatutyun Avenue.
